On September 14th, the District Party Secretary and Mayor of Haidian met with the Compass Ventures Group delegation led by Dr. Ronen Dagon. The two sides held a talk with the purpose of strengthening the mutual exchange and collaboration of both parties and with the objective of forging innovation-led projects.

The district of Haidian, is the second largest district of the municipality of Beijing, recognized nation-wide for its innovation and technology nature, hosting the country’s top leading universities, start-ups and technology companies. The district’s Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park is China’s most active high-tech center, dedicated to innovation and technology, and hosting the offices of many important technology companies such as Baidu, Youku, and Xiaomi. As a result, Haidian holds one of the strongest GDPs in the country. In 2016 alone, its GDP topped 490 billion yuan, representing an annual growth of about 9 percent, which explains how over the last five years, the annual growth of tech companies in Haidian has increased by over 15 percent, and accounting for almost 60 percent of the regional GDP.

At the meeting, Mr. Yu introduced the Haidian District, and spoke about Haidian’s profound history and talent gathering, while sharing the district’s intensified efforts to build a world-renowned high-tech demonstration base with the vision to offer a dynamic environment for innovation and development. Mr. Yu emphasized the breadth of industries operating from Haidian including mobile internet, cloud computing, bioengineering, pharmaceutical, new materials, new energy-saving, and environment protection and thanks Dr. Dagon for the opportunity to find mutual ways to boost Haidian economic development on an international level while inviting Dr. Dagon to attend the 2017 Zhongguancun Innovation and Entrepreneurship season activity.

Dr. Ronen Dagon, Chairman of the worldwide Compass Ventures Group, introduced Compass’ business sectors and worldwide-spread network of partners and activities evolving around technology and innovation in a range of sectors including high-tech, IOT, pharma, environment, energy, new materials and security. The two sides discussed a range of mutual collaboration projects including the progress of establishing the joint technological innovation center between China and Israel, while exploring additional investment opportunities between Haidian and Israel including how to further promote Haidian in Israel.
